Episode 1: Works dedicated to Oboe duets: Conversation with oboists José Luis Urquieta and Pilar Fontalba
In this episode 1 season 4 of the comusik Podcast, we present the oboists Pilar Fontalba (Spain) and José Luis Urquieta (Chile) and the collaborative work they have done with different composers through the creation and interpretation of works for oboe duets, with the common characteristic of being based on the research that the oboists have been doing in recent years, about the possibilities of complex sounds with the instrument.
The three duets have been premiered at the Jorge Oteiza Museum in Navarra – Spain in the context of the AFTER CAGE Festival of Pamplona 2022 and in a concert organized in Denmark by “Waves up North”.
“Estratos” and “Vestigios” were also recorded at Cezanne Producciones with sound engineer Javier Monteverde de Mesa.
Content of the podcast:
I. Presentation by oboists José Luis Urquieta and Pilar Fontalba and podcast participants: Richard Mújica, Lluvia Bustos and Bertha Elena Artero Ponce.
